Meet Clint

“I am for truth, no matter who tells it. I am for justice, no matter who it is for or against. We need more light about each other. Light creates understanding; understanding creates love. Love creates patience, and patience creates Unity” ~Malcolm X.

My name is Clint Sobratti Jr. I was born in New York and raised in the United States Virgin Islands. I am a devoted husband and father of four. I have been employed with the Department of Transportation of Montgomery County for the last ten years as a Bus Operator and a Transit Coordinator. Additionally, I am an Executive board member of Montgomery County Sierra’s Club Group and one of the Vice Presidents of UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, who help to protect the rights of our union workers as well. However, before these titles, I was just an ordinary person with a troubled past who eventually overcame all of my obstacles through self-determination and hard work.

My path to public service did not begin with me. It started with my grandmother, who dedicated her life to public service and instilled the value of perseverance in me. I learned about the power of action. Therefore, I knew that if I wanted to see changes in my community, I had to be a trailblazer and lead the charge. In 2018, I decided to run for public office to address several injustices that plagued my community, but unfortunately, I was unsuccessful with my first bid. Although the election did not go as planned, I was not discouraged. I was determined to become the driving force of change. Therefore, I decided to apply the perseverance embedded in me, and I became more proactive in advocacy. I began working closely with my elected officials and numerous organizations on issues such as workers’ rights, judicial reform, and community inclusiveness, as well as social, economic, and environmental injustices that were in the best interest of our communities.

Being a resident of Montgomery County and a minority, I know all too well about some of the struggles families may encounter in our demographics. With your Vote, I will represent District 39 in Annapolis. I plan to expand on existing bills and create new legislation that will continue to bring meaningful change and improve my constituents’ quality of life. Additionally, I will work hard to advance racial equity so that both our middle-class and impoverished families can have an equal opportunity of achieving the American Dream.
