Fighting for Working Families
The State of Maryland has some of the wealthiest and most diverse counties in the country. We need leaders who will reflect the fabric of our community and continuously fight for equal opportunities for working families.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there is a statistically significant difference in the wage gap between whites and other ethnicities. Currently, the median individual income per household is 49K. That means that a single earner who works 40 hours per week struggles to generate enough income to sustain both their home and monthly living expenses. Clint Sobratti believes that we must fight harder to help working families thrive, especially for low-wage earners and middle-class families. Clint Sobratti is also committed to protecting worker’s rights through collective bargaining. He believes that anyone working 40 hours per week should have paid leave, health care coverage, Family and Medical Leave Act, and that all essential personnel should receive additional compensation in a state of emergency.
In Annapolis, Clint Sobratti will advance legislation that promotes equal opportunities and protects working families by:
- Encourage and Expand union organizing and collective bargaining;
- Expand and Enforce collective bargaining rights;
- Increase workplace safety standard and health;
- Advocate and Advance the minimum wage to a livable wage
- Make quality education a right;
- Implement a green jobs program;
- Invest in Universal Childcare and Pre-K education;
- Support and Ensure pay equity across the board for all Marylanders;
- Invest in housing affordability.
Many Marylanders depend on our transportation system; therefore, it is a necessity that we must continue to invest into. Traffic congestion has proven to be the number one complaint amongst commuters that it takes too long to get to their desired destination. Therefore, we must invest in our transit infrastructure that will improve the quality of life for families. First, we must start by creating bus-only lanes, which will alleviate traffic flow and help reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, We can develop a robust rail network to give commuters more options, reduce the amount of carbon emission that pollutes the air quality. Marylanders increasingly prefer to live within communities where it is easily accessible to bike or walk to they’re desired locations.
